Our Client is seeking a Corporate Counsel - Operations (approx. 4-8 pqe) to join their high quality Legal team to work as a key strategic partner with the business.

Responsibilities will include managing all legal aspects of their Operations and Generation operations business.

As a Corporate Lawyer, you will work as part of a Legal team working with other lawyers and senior commercial stakeholders across the business to ensure all contractual arrangements are legally compliant and effective and will provide general advice to the business when necessary.

This is a full time, permanent opportunity based in Sydney.

 

 Reporting to Corporate Counsel, key accountabilities will include:

  • Preparation of effective, legally enforceable contractual documentation for construction projects

  • Provide strategic and technical legal advice on contract law, including in relation to the major projects. 

  • Management of legal disputes and regulatory investigations with contract counter-parties

  • Preparation of effective, legally enforceable contractual documentation for procurement, including Standard Form Documents and review of counterparties terms and conditions

  • Provide legal advice to the Safety and Environment Teams on their legal and compliance obligations

  • Undertake verification and assurance activities to ensure the business and its officers are meeting their regulatory obligations in relation to safety and environment

  • Advise Compliance Manager and Compliance Advisers on Regulatory Obligations relevant to the operation of the Generation Business

  • Undertake verification and assurance activities to ensure the business and its officers are meeting their regulatory obligations. 

 

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Bachelor of Laws

  • 4 -8 years' experience in construction. procurement or operations

  • Knowledge of safety and environmental legislation

  • Sound working knowledge of contract law

  • Ability to work in an agile, fast paced environment
