Our clients Sydney Tax team has an excellent opportunity for a Lawyer (2-5 PQE) to join the team. This team has significant expertise in corporate taxation, mergers and acquisitions and private equity, and has acted for a wide range of clients on national, international and cross border matters.
Working with two top rated multi award winning tax partners, this is an exceptional opportunity for a Tax lawyer to join a supportive, solid and integrated team working on extremely high profile, major transactions that are market leading. Our lawyers are results driven and commercially aware and offer a cross-section of expertise on the accounting, financial services and corporate law aspects of taxation.
Our clients fully integrated advisory service spans all areas where tax issues may arise – including M&A, funds management, property funds, private equity, private public partnerships, infrastructure, cross-border and transfer pricing – for Australian and international businesses, from structuring at the start of a transaction through to post-completion, including engaging with the tax authorities for lodgements and compliance.
We consider the spectrum of taxation issues that arises in constantly changing domestic and international tax regimes – including income tax, GST, stamp duty, land tax, payroll tax, excise, royalties, FBT, withholding tax, and PRRT – to craft tax strategies informed by our broad knowledge of property funds, trusts, tax controversy, tax litigation accounting, financial services, insolvency and all corporate / M&A law aspects of taxation. (This role will focus on Transactional tax matters not compliance, controversy or litigation)

As a member of the team, you will have significant exposure to clients, playing an important role on key aspects of transactions, including negotiations and drafting. The successful candidate will work across many practice areas of the firm drawing on specialist skills including corporate, real estate, major projects, finance, debt capital markets.
Skills & Experience
To be successful in this role, you will have:
At least 2 years' post-qualified experience across a range of tax matters in a (preferably top tier) accounting or legal firm environment
A strong academic record
The ability to drive matters forward
Ability to see the big picture but handle the detail
The ability to prioritise your time across a number of busy matters
A strong client service focus and work ethic; great resilience
Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills - required for building client relationships and maintaining a positive team environment
