Projects & Operations Counsel

Our client is a market leading Energy Company with a huge portfolio of both renewable and conventional generation assets

It's an exciting time to join the business they continue their key role in leading the energy transition with major projects underway.

The Role

Their growing Legal team is seeking a Corporate Lawyer - Projects and Operations, to advise on all aspects of the Project and Generation business. Working in conjunction with Senior Corporate Lawyer - Projects and Procurement, and reporting to the Head of Legal, you will become a trusted advisor to their Projects and Generation business.

This is a Sydney based, full-time permanent position, but will involve occasional project site visits.

First and foremost this is a front end construction focused role , candidates should have a proven ability to negotiate and draft a range of Project documentation including D&C, O&M, Project Procurement documents etc, and to give advice on project claims

Our client is looking for a mid level, front end Construction lawyer with a positive can-do attitude, who is interested in joining a dynamic in house legal team and developing a full Projects and Operations skillset which will, overtime, and with supervision and training develop to include the below;

1. Providing strategic legal advice to our Major Projects and generation business on:

a. all project, corporate, commercial and procurement matters

b. contractual claims and regulatory investigations

c. safety, environment, planning, land and property matters

d. regulatory obligations, verification and assurance activities to ensure the company and its officers meet their regulatory obligations

2. Preparing effective, legally enforceable contractual documentation

3. Delivering legal awareness training

We're looking for someone with:

Essential

● Bachelor of Law qualification and current practicing certificate

● 3-6 years' post qualification experience in private practice or in-house with front-end construction law experience and exposure to energy and infrastructure projects

● Ability to work independently and effectively manage competing priorities

● Ability and desire to grow with the organisation and extend expertise to other areas of specialisation relevant to the company’s generation business

● Ability to develop and foster relationships with stakeholders

Desirable

Knowledge of safety, environment, planning, land and property law will be highly regarded but not essential.
