Our client is looking for a Senior Legal Counsel to provide pragmatic and strategic legal advice and services enabling delivery of Major Projects
Delivery of effective, timely, commercial and pragmatic legal advice in relation to the following areas:
all front-end and back-end construction matters for both greenfield and brownfield major projects.
Includes advising on the full suite of construction contracts / models, such as ECI, Construct-only, Design & Construct, Design & Install, EPC and Development Agreements;
Front-end (transactional) responsibilities include:
Contract drafting and negotiation, advising on procurement strategies and risk allocation across various delivery models;
Providing strategic legal advice throughout project lifecycle from tender phase to commercial operations; and
Identifying and mitigating legal risks associated with construction activities.
Back-end (dispute resolution) responsibilities include:
Claims management – advising on and preparing claims relating to delay, variations, qualifying events and assisting with dispute avoidance/mitigation strategies; and
Managing complex disputes (including mediation, adjudication, arbitration and litigation).
Operational Contracting
major asset service agreements for our clients Power Assets, such as Long Term Service Agreements and O&M’s;
all procurement for the business (Infrastructure Construction; Networks; Transmission; Corporate);
general legal advice and support for the businesses operating businesses as required from time to time.
About you
You will have 10+ years experience in Projects work either from a leading law firm or in house legal team
You will have strong Construction law knowledge
The technical skillset to be able to act as a trusted advisor on most matters without relying on external law firms, to influence, and where necessary push change to the business stakeholders.
Strong experience in Contract interpretation and drafting
A strong understanding of commercial drivers and the businesses Risk appetites
