Derivatives Associate 3-7 PQE

Position Summary

Our Client is one of the largest US law firms in the world.

They are looking for Associates with an interest in all aspects of derivatives transactions to join their London office. You should have strong academic credentials as well as an aptitude for navigating the complex and fast-evolving derivatives landscape. An independent self-starter, you will use your astute judgement proactively to anticipate client needs, and contribute to the success of multiple projects.

Our Practice Area

Our global award winning practice is a recognized leader in derivatives and have been directly involved in significant developments affecting the market. The Derivatives group is seamlessly integrated into the Firm's other market-leading global practices in relation to the full range of derivatives and structured products and the related regulatory concerns that accompany them.

Duties and Accountabilities

  • Drafting and negotiating derivatives and structured products documentation 

  • Conducting and overseeing legal research

  • Familiarity with European Market Infrastructure Regulation (EMIR) and how this interacts with other global regulatory regimes for derivative trading would be an advantage

  • Managing deals from preliminary calls to execution and post closing matters  

  • Assist with business development activities, client events, cross selling the Derivatives practice within the firm, liaising with relevant groups and clients, including drafting client alerts, pitches, training materials, and following-up on potential opportunities with existing and future clients. 

Qualifications

  • 3-5 Years of post qualification experience in a top tier Derivatives practice

  • Strong academic record and intellectual curiosity, creative thinker

  • Commercial and business awareness

  • Outstanding communication and negotiation skills

  • Strong time management skills, ability to stay calm under pressure when juggling multiple projects

  • Excellent drafting skills

  • Able to work with different practice teams, overseas offices and local counsels in a cross-border environment
