Restructuring & Insolvency - London
Magic Circle firm
Award winning team
Multiple growth roles
Our client is one of the leading firms in the world. Their Restructuring and Insolvency group sits within their broader Finance team and advises across the full spectrum of restructuring, including complex corporate restructurings and contentious and non-contentious insolvency matters and refinancing’s.
They advise companies (and their boards), lenders, investors and buyers on complex and international restructuring and distressed situations. They also frequently advise governments, central banks and insolvency practitioners.
You will also advise on distressed investments and restructuring strategies generally, insolvency regimes, trading of debt and the sale of non-performing loan portfolios. Additionally, you will have exposure to insolvency practitioners on their appointments and duties.
They are currently looking for up to three Associates to join their team, this represents a great opportunity for ambitious Restructuring & Insolvency lawyers to further develop their legal skills and progress their career within a Magic Circle firm.
The ideal candidate
Will be the equivalent of UK NQ-4 PQE (approximately 2-6 PQE Australian) from a top tier or respected international firm and will have experience of Restructuring and Refinancing work.
Genuine back end Insolvency litigation work is also relevant, although the balance in the team is probably 70:30 towards front end Restructuring experience rather than Insolvency litigation. So any candidates with predominantly back end insolvency experience will have to be open to upskilling doing more front end advisory work.
Recent matters include:
Advising a client on its ongoing restructuring through Chapter 11. Approximately $7.1 billion of debt facilities were restructured under the matter and it represented a comprehensive financial restructuring.
Advising a client on two comprehensive Chapter 11 restructurings which involved restructuring billions of dollars of bank and bond debt.
Advising a client on its strategic options and debt restructuring which included negotiations with multiple bilateral lenders, new money providers and convertible bondholders.
Advising a client on the development and implementation of a deleveraging plan designed to reduce the group’s debt by approximately £485 million and provide £110 million of fresh liquidity.
Advising a client in connection with the proposed recapitalisation plan, the liquidation of the Group and the subsequent parliamentary inquiry.
Advising a major Investment bank in relation to the financial restructuring of an associated group
Advising a client in relation to its restructuring efforts, as well as the Official Receiver and Special Managers in connection with the sale of certain businesses.
UK HM Treasury, and three other European governments in connection with the financial crisis and bank resolution and recapitalisation options.
Advising a client (the UK’s largest in their sector) , on a potential restructuring before its entry into administration, and subsequently the administrators in relation to the conduct of the administration
This is a great opportunity to work in a larger legal and financial market, on genuinely career defining Restructuring and Insolvency matters, working under top rated Partners
