We have two great opportunities for ambitious Senior Associate’s to join our Perth and Sydney Environment & Sustainable Development (ESD) teams.

This role involves a diverse variety of interesting and challenging work, advising public and private sector clients on a broad range of regulatory frameworks in the context of strategic approvals and regulatory advice, major projects and transactions, enforcement, litigation and dispute resolution. It is an exciting time to be working in ESD.

The depth of expertise across our national ESD team and the nature of our clients, means we are working at the forefront of reform and innovation in this space, advising on projects and operations in the energy and resources, renewables, infrastructure, agribusiness and property development sectors (amongst others) on environmental, planning, Aboriginal heritage, native title and other regulatory frameworks. You will work extensively with other practice areas within the firm as part of project teams delivering exceptional legal services to our clients.

Skills & Experience

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • For Perth At least 1-2 years' experience as a Senior Associate

  • For Sydney at least 4+ PQE (final year Associate or SA )

  • with a broad background in environmental law and ideally planning, Aboriginal cultural heritage, native title or related practice areas

  • Strong skills in legislative interpretation, analytical thinking and advice drafting, and attention to detail

  • Familiarity with State Administrative Tribunal or Supreme/Federal Court litigation

  • Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills; required for building client relationships and maintaining a positive team environment

  • Demonstrated capability to work autonomously as well as a team member

  • Experience in supervision and developing junior lawyers

  • A high degree of initiative, dedication and organisational ability with a strong client and commercial focus

  • A desire to develop and participate in business development initiatives, including seminars and publishing articles
