Our client is a multi billion dollar business in the Infrastructure & Energy space undergoing a significant business transformation. They are looking for a Senior IT and Procurement Counsel to join their dynamic and highly regarded Legal team on a permanent basis.
The position will involve providing legal advice and guidance across IT and Procurement matters. As our client is technology heavy business and also investing heavily in new technology, this will be a highly visible and important role. Excellent verbal communication skills are a must for this role. You will have to be able to "speak" technology as well as legal fluently, and most importantly do both in plain English.
The ideal candidate will have between 7-15 years PQE with their experience focused on large scale IT and Procurement matters.
They will be expected to be able to work autonomously on the majority of matters, relying on external counsel only for the largest or most complex work.
IT & Procurement work will include:
Day to Day IT Contracting
Major IT Service Contract negotiation and drafting (i.e. $50m IT support service agreement)
Vendor management
All Procurement matters relating to technology
New Energy Tech - including new developing regulatory and commercial areas
Cyber/ Privacy and advisory matters
Challenges:
Providing advice on complex legal issues;
Maintaining competency across broad ranging areas of legal risk in IT Contracting and Procurement
Keeping abreast of the ever changing regulatory landscape; and
Prioritising competing deadlines imposed by various stakeholders in the delivery of advice.
Essential:
7-15 years post qualification experience on a mix of IT and Procurement matters.
Commercial awareness and the ability to work effectively with internal clients;
Excellent negotiation and influencing skills and the proven ability to manage competing priorities across a diverse portfolio of matters;
Superior analytical, drafting and negotiation skills with good risk management awareness;
Ability to communicate complex legal and compliance-related concepts to a broad range of technical and non-technical staff; and
Australian work rights and admission to practice as a lawyer in Australia
