Our client is a leading specialist law firm based in Sydney CBD, they are profitable and looking to double the size of the firm to around 30 lawyers in the next 18-24 months.

The firms focus is on Planning, Development and local Government work 

They are looking to hire Partner(s) with either;

1. A specialisation in Environment & Planning, Development and Local Government, to compliment their existing practice, or
2. Related areas such as Property, Construction, Corporate or Commercial law 

The Partners of the firm have all previously worked at leading top tier and international law firms prior to joining the firm.

If you are an ambitious Lawyer working as a Senior Associate, Special Counsel, or Partner, or in house with a Government legal team and want to join a successful firm, this is a fantastic opportunity.
Candidates will be assessed for Salaried or Equity partnerships on the value of the practice they can bring across (ideally $500k plus), or their ability to build a practice if they don't have a transportable practice. 
 
They are a specialist firm but they do not wish to pigeonhole their Partners, they will offer the support to grow either niche practices, or very generalist ones as long as it supports the overall offering of the firm.

The firms clientele is a mix of:
1. local and regional council's (they are a panel firm for many councils) and;
2. private property developers, town planners, architects etc

Candidates with experience supporting either Councils or Developers will be viewed very favourably. 

As a specialist firm they have far lower billable hour requirements than larger firms and their bonus system kicks in at the 5 billable hour mark rather than 6, 7 or even 8 hours per day of the larger firms.
This is done purposefully so that targets are reasonably achieved in a standard 9-5 working day and long hours are not the expectation.
Having said that there is no cap on earning capabilities and ambitious lawyers will be well placed to do very well in this earning model, particularly with 50% of every dollar generated above target by salaried Partners paid as a bonus (Equity Partners earn points for profit sharing). 
Base salaries are very competitive with other leading specialist and even larger mid tier firms. 

They can offer very flexible working arrangements to support Partners requirements, all the firms tech is cloud based and accessible remotely. Most staff are in the office between 2-5 days a week as client meetings and court requires.

Culturally the firm is looking to hire enthusiastic people who are friendly and respect each other and are good at working together. The current Partners left  large firms and set up their firm in order to get away from the negative politics and bickering of larger firms.
