ROLE DESCRIPTION
The successful candidate will be responsible for the following activities:
• Provide counsel to the local and international commercial team with respect to the development, construction and operation of innovative Energy Storage, Hydrogen, Hybrid Solutions, Virtual Power Plants, and Digital Energy Solutions
• Assist with the management of regulatory and permitting affairs, particularly during project development stages
• Research, review, interpret, draft and negotiate project contracts such as power purchase agreements, EPC agreements and O&M agreements
• Manage and supervise outside counsel; manage and be responsible for administrating legal budgets; review and approve outside counsel invoices
• Provide counsel on legal issues identified by construction management in connection with projects under construction
• Provide counsel on legal issues identified by O&M and asset management in connection with projects under operation.
• Provide support with the corporate housekeeping activities of the client’s Australian entities
• Assist with potential disputes
KEY SELECTION CRITERIA
The successful candidate will possess the following:
• Law degree from a leading law school
• Licensed to practice law in Australia
• 3-6 years of professional legal work experience
• 2-3 years of relevant experience at a major law firm or with a sophisticated in-house legal department with a focus on renewable projects.
Experience of working on M&A in particular taking and divesting Equity stakes in Energy projects will be advantageous

To this end, in the next 5 years the company expects an investment of over USD 4 billion in fixed assets . Our client has developed and secured PPAs for a multiple completed solar projects in Australia, and currently has many more projects in the pipeline at various stages from land acquisition through financial close, construction for both utility scale Solar and Storage.
This unit of the company focuses on emerging technology in the Renewable energy space - through identifying, exploring and incubating innovative concepts in technology, service and business model to deliver viable and scalable solutions to drive the global transition to a sustainable renewable energy model.
This is a change to work as part of a small close knit high quality legal team that works as an integrated part of the business on all stages of the project lifecycle.
This role is being offered on an initial 12 month basis but may be extended beyond this time
